This area of Oregon is renowned for proflic and varied plant life in the woods and a unique sea coast. These two qualities have been combined in this wonderful whimsical pottery from a local potter. Carla has taken locally wildcrafted indigenous plants as well as kelp, driftwood and other items from the beach and used these for the designs on the plates, bowls, platters and soap dishes we offer.

Her actual technique involves creating the pottery piece and then impressing the plants into the clay. The fine lines of the plants transfer into the clay, forming veins that the color glaze travels through. When the piece is fired, the color becomes apparent - displaying the delicate detail of the plant. Some pieces also have "applique" flowers or berries, giving a three-dimensional aspect to the piece.

While Carla has agreed to do similar pieces in generally the same size, every piece is hand-made and uses real plants, so no two pieces are ever identical.
